Anyone had luck with one in a reef tank?

Just put in a four inch specimen who is, by the way, currently being terorized by my 5 inch purple tang appropriately named killer.

As a side note, anyone have luck keeping these two fish together?

My chevron seems to be handling the angel somewhat better.

There's a purple tang for you. Z.xanthurum is a mean bastard

Fortunately, their aggression usually recedes after 2 weeks. My best guess is the Goldflake will hold its own until then - after which the two should coexist quite peacably if often fed.

I've never personally kept a A.xanthopunctatus in my reef, but I personally know of 2 other reefers who have done it successfully. However, I've also heard reports of them pecking (and annoying) LPS corals, clams, zooanthid and soft coral polyps. It's really a toss-up, and is heavily dependent on the fish's personal behavior. To minimize chances of it eating decorative inverts, feed it often, and introduce new inverts with the lights out so it doesn't see it as prey item.

Good luck. Expensive fish, but a gorgeous one!

I wouldnt worry about the purple , he'll calm down after a week. but the goldflake shouldnt wexactly be in a reef. Its in the same group of angles with the flagfin, it is supposed to be easier to keep. What did it set you back? $250? I want one too, and this is the time of year they come around(x-mas)=BIG BUCKS.

Got a great specimen for $275. Check MarineDepotLive. I have had good luck with them, little hassle and great fish. Any problems have been satisfactoraly been rectified. Got my fingers crossed on whether or not hes going to start picking on my LPSs (assuming he survives the tang).
