My Tank Cracked :(

hey everyone,
-the tank is a AGA 20H with custom built overflow
-150w sunpod MH
- Closed loop
-drilled with 3 holes (1 drain 2 return)

a few days ago i noticed water coming from my drain bulkhead so i put some silicone around it and let it sit for 2 days. Now today i noticed it when i started my system up to check the leak....2 minuts go by and i realize its happening again....i ran my hand over it and felt it was a crack....its not huge crack it goes from the bulk head to the bottom (10-9 inches) but it was only dripping water....i didnt notice it b/c the crack was behind my overflow.....i tried siliconing it and i'll see how that turns out...but i think the tank will burst open overt time......

do u think i can save the tank?

Now the solution

-i have an old 55g acrylic tank with stand and hood
-i can put the tank in my basement wich would take it out of my room
-i already have 50-60 lbs of rock
-i can use my 150w MH and buy this T% retrofit http://www.innovativelights.com/ret-t5-254.html so i can have some softies and SPS on the top near the 150w MH
-i'm gonna need sand i saw some at Nerac at the house of fish booth mayb u guys have some more?
- i have a 25g sump
- i have a coralife super skimmer 65
- i guess i'll need a CL pump

Is acrylic easy to drill?

What else do i need?

I have about $300 saved do u think i can do it?

Hey George, sorry to hear about the crack. Yes it will burst & you need to move everything asap....as in now.
I have sand for you & can drop it off on my way to my FW club meeting tonight..around 6:45. Just PM me your street address again, can't remember which house.

it will really burst the crack is behind the overflow and the overflow is drained?

i dont need the sand rite away so i dont think u need to bother

warr sorry to hear. the 55g sounds good move evrything in there asap.

acrylic is easy to drill. all you need is a hole saw.

i'm sure you can find some of the items you need on here. post a WTB thread and see if you can get what you need.

i cant move everything yet b/c the tank is at a friends house to hold tomorrow i can but i mite be able to put everything in a 20g drum

just buy a new 20 gallon. they're like $25 bucks.

I broke three sides of glass trying to drill my 20. Once it was done it's been golden.

You could scab on a piece of glass inside. Drain the tank and put the piece over the crack on the inside. silicone the ^(&* out of it and it should hold.

But I'd just get a new tank.

Then I'd honestly NOT set up the 55. The dimensions suck as a reef tank. It's too narrow front to back for any good aquascaping. I'd look into getting a used 65 or 75.

the 55g is free and i like the no seam look so thats what i'm gonna go with
