I have 3 E. quad, one blue carpet and one rock anemone. I find the blue carpet and rock anemone often spit out food. Whatever the food it was, most of time its coated in slimes. What does it mean? Did the anemone gets sufficient nutrient and spitting out the excess? OR, the food is too large for it to handle? The E. Quad doesn't do that, OR, I should say, I haven't witness them do the same.

Anyone shed some light?

It simply means the anemone doesn't want the food. This can be fine if your anemone is healthy it just means it is getting enough from light. However it can also indicate ill health if it will not accept food. You should be able to tell by the appearance of the anemone. Most take food at a frequency of every three days. Also try a different variety of food.

If the anemone simply didn't want the food, I'd think that it would refuse it all together. If it had enough energy from "light" why waste the energy in the act of consumption (nematocysts) simply to regurgitate it later? (IMHO)I'd say that the anemone either didn't like what you gave it. It prefers something else. Or it digested what it needed and spit out the rest.

Actually, you are right, Matt. My wife couldn't stand me staring and messing around with the tank 8 hours a day, and banished the tank to my office. At least now its in my office, she doesn't know (well, actually, doesn't want to know) how much time I spent on it!
