Friends and neighbors that walk by the house ask what's up with all the lights. Not only does the blue light come out from the first floor windows, but I also have a couple of 400 MHs in the basement for growing orchids in the winter. So the high windows in the basement also stream light as well. Since I'm setting up a large sump in the basement, for a new tank, which will be lit by MH on a reverse cycle, the bright lights down there will be on all night soon. Luckily I'm friends w/ the town prosecutor so he knows things are on the up and up.

I recently converted the lights on the outside of my house to Flourescent. When one of the bulbs went bad, I popped in a replacement bulb and it happened to be one of the 9w Actinics. It looked cool...

So now I replaced all the outside fixtures, which are contemporary with glass fixtures that have bubbles in the glass.

There are 4 Blue Fixtures on the second story of the house, 2 on the side of the house, and then along the ground floor there are 4 under the eves shining blue down, and then all the floods in the ground aimed into the landscaping is green.

My neighbors love it. They call it the Hannukah house, which is okay cause I am Jewish, and this week it's Hannukah. But they gave me the title during the summer.

And giving people directions is a snap !!! (For me and the neighbors)

Our entire basement glows blue from all the windows and vents. I hope no one calls the Ashcroft Big Brother TIPS hotline on us.

One of my students had an indoor garden with grow lights on it. The local police got a search warrant, came in to investigate, and tore our all the guys plants, herbs, and vegetables. They found no drugs and left. The guy lost 4 months worth of work, and a couple hundred dollars in cool plants.

I still don't understand why that isn't legally considered a "taking" because he was deprived of property without due process of the law. That doesn't seem justifiable.

heh, I have had neighbors come to my door and ask what it is. I am sure I have been looked at funny "wondering if I am growing pot" by more than a few passers by.

One thing you would not want to do is have a grow room and be a reefer at the same time. :P or would you? You would have the perfect excuse for the lights and power bills! ;)

Similar to an earlier post, I also was driving to the house of a reefer for a frag trade -- directions were hard to follow but found his house by the blue glow.

Also, I bonded with someone down my street because I id'ed his actinics and I ended up with lots o' free LR and some live sand. Good thing I didn't criticize his photoperiod, which seemed very irregular.

As for me, my shades are thick so I just look like an avid TV watcher. Occasionally I open it up so my neighbors across the street, who have often engaged in unspeakable acts with the shades open, can watch my ocellaris pair get it on.

I like the hannukah house comment. I'll have to ask my wife to get me a metal halide menorah for next year.
