I used 4000k for years , soft corals do fine under them. They do look yellowish. You can use actenics to reduce the yellow. I only stop using 4000k this year,I went to a 6500k bulb. I ran 4000k bulbs for about 8 years or more. The reason I used them they were readily available and I did not notice the yellow that much; Until I started to check out other reef tank lighting.
well coralline algie still grow under this lighting.....and if it does what color would dominate.......Ive noticed the really yellow light...dont know if I like it or hate it....
