I'm still pretty new and haven't reached the point I want to get to yet. Although, I don't think anyone will ever be completely satisfied... that is the beauty of this hobby. I just can't stand having to buy things twice because of bad advice from lfs's. Other than that, this hobby is the best and this board plays a major role in that!

It's a labor of love. As i run around like a chicken with his head cut off trying to unpack 100lbs of florida live sand, do live rock water changes, mix saltwater and clean multiple skimmers and sponges in my cellar preparing for my new tank, i'm loving every minute!

I think the climax of the hobby is when I get to wash 150lbs of southdown tropical play dust! But as a recent thread states, it may be a waste of time to do so...

REEF ON!

It does seem to be the crack-addiction of all hobbys that I have been involved in. I've been in the salt water and Reef end of fish keeping for over a year now. Its un-friggin-believable how much time one can devote to this hobby. Is there something wrong with this?

How many of you LFS owners just accepted your addiction and opened a store. It almost seems like the next logical step.

Ive always loved this, even when 1 was a kid! 1st tank was a 20 gallon fresh, that crashed after 1 yr (literally, our cat had a feast). Then was my first sw-45 tall, pre w/d days (amazing anything lived, did a lot of expermenting and may have had dsb without understanding it, was running canisters). Then I grad, had to quit, but yrs later, remembered the fun and started my 75! (besides, the kid thinks its funny when I get stung etc.) PBJ sandwiches=More money for tank!
yah, this rocks, besides in MN in winter, there's not much to do other than winter driving olympics (during snowstorms, we actually drive through them as much as possible), horizontal or vertical or whatever mambo, and shoveling snow off roof.

I want to keep reefing all my life.

The total expenses for a lifetime of reefing probably hit $1,000,000 or more. I'm 17 now. Let's say I live to be 86. That's 70 years of reefing, and with 10-20 tanks in that amount of time, some simultaneously, all very expensive, so when you factor in inflation, it should come out over a million dollars.

My favorite part of this hobby is that there is never one answer to a question. For instance, I could post a question on here that says: My nitrates are high, how do I bring them down? And get 50 different answers that are all probably good. I can pick an answer that I like!

I also like the fact that I can study and learn and find new info every day for ten years and still have tons to learn!

Yes, it's awesome! I've had all types of aquaria, From large freshwater planted tanks with the whole nine on them, to a nice sized brackish tank. This is my first experiences with Saltwater in my 10 years of fish keeping, but I love it more than anything! But my planted tank is very beautiful and just as interesting,IMO. The challenge is what keeps me into the hobby.

Naaaah! I just have more money than I know what to do with. Yeah, right!

Great hobby, I'm sure I'll be reefing when I'm old and gray. Hey wait a minute - I already am old and gray. Like I said.

I can definitely relate to the MTS (multiple tank syndrome) disease. From time to time I tell myself that I'm going to downsize my collection, but I can never bring myself to do it..Must be MTS! I think I would miss all the hard work that I put into them to make them nbice to look at. Sounds crazy, but I do enjoy spending my ENTIRE saturday and sometimes half Sunday doing maintenance, but I would have quit if it was my real job! Go figure....
