It's a bit small, for one....

For $17, you can give it a try, but I wouldn't pay much more for it than that...

Once you actually see it, you will know that's it's too small. I've seen them in my LFS before....they're not very big at all.

I've never had one, so I really cannot comment accurately. I'm sure it will skim some stuff, but not nearly as much as you would probably need (especially if you plan to put any fish in there).

I've got a Hang-On Red Sea Berlin that works very well.

Don't get a skilter or a SeaClone (you're just wasting money on either of these).

If you're serious about getting the 55-gallon up and running, you will want to do yourself a favor and get a "good" skimmer, since it will last forever and you will never have to doubt your purchase.

Hope that helps,
Eboman

I have a used turboflotor that I would sell. It works but is not the most maintenance free and you will need a sump.

Try to get a turboflotor multi hang on. This will work wonders on a 55 gallon. I retails for like 230$ including the pump.

Otherwise try a Remora Pro, this will also be worth the money, at around 200$ includes the pump.

You know the old adage - You get what you pay for. For $20, it is probably not a bad buy. Down the road, however, you will definately want a better skimmer.

Good luck either way you go.

I would get a Precision Marine HOT-1. It is built much better and works much better than any other hang-on skimmer (with the exception of a couple $400 ones).

I bought an AquaC Remora Pro almost a year ago and regret the purchase. It is on a 70g tank but simply isn't adequate for me. Also loud and rather poorly designed and built.

The HOT-1 is easily adjustable, built with thick acrylic instead of cheap stuff, and has a much larger reaction chamber, the important part where the bubbles mix with the water.

I think you too would later regret buying an AquaC skimmer. Take it from someone who has had LOTS of trouble with a Remora Pro. The HOT-1 is cheaper too! About $170 at most online places.
