I'm in the 5th week of setup on my tank... My readings have hit Zero... And now I have all this brown algae.... I've done some reading and this appears to be a normal part of the tank setup...

I've picked up some snails and they are going to town on it... But it seems like the more they eat... The more it grows!!

The only lighting that I have on it right now is a 30 watt 50/50... I purchased a VHO Retro kit and I'm building the hood now...

If I put the new lighting on will this cause even more?

Or... Should I just relax... Keep testing... and wait it out...

If this brown algae is just a light dusting that coats the sandbed and live rock, it's just part of the natural startup cycle and generally goes away on its own within the first month or so. Here is a picture of the type of algae I am talking about.
