Just wondering where all the bullet skimmer users have there's placed?In-line,bottom of sump or in-sump above running water level?I am having a difficult time adjusting mine,it,s a bullet-1 with a mag 12.Any input would be appreciated.
Your skimmer is definitely going to run better if the output is above water level.. if the output is submerged, it causes the level in the skimmer to vary with sump level, and it also tends to make it run too high. As far as in-sump above water level or external, that doesn't really matter.. whatever is more convenient for you.
Here is what I have done and I have no bubbles returning to the tank and do not have to fuss with the skimmer once it is set. I have a LifeReef sump that has the skimmer return bulkhead above the sump waterline. I run a 1" PVC tube to the last baffeled are 9 where the water level is always constant, and have a 90 elbow pointing down. The elbow is submerged about 1/2" but this is not a problem being that you just have to tume the skimmer level once being that the water level is constant. The skimmer, Bullet 2, is in-line. I set the water level 4" from the bottom of the second rised tube. Works great. Let me know if this makes any sence. If you need I can send a picture.
