OK im switching from a 15g to a 35g w/ a 15g sump. I have about 25lbs of LR in the 15g right now, should I add a peice of it every few days or just drop it all into the 35? I have a few mushrooms and some xenia in my 15g that I would like to keep alive too though and don't want to put them into a cycling tank.

I also have a PS and a powerfilter sitting on my 15g which one of the 2 should I put on my cycling 35g?
thanks alot

Tim, I would transfer everything from your 15 to your new tank all at once. Later on if you decide you don't want the power filter then you can remove it.

Tim, you should have plenty of biological filtration with your rock and filter to not hurt these animals. As long as your new water is the same (ie temp, ph) you should have no die off.

Tim,

Steve is right on the money.

The only point I will add is that moving everything from a 15 to a 35 will leave you some gallons of salt water short. Do yourself a favor and make up sufficient water before the "Big Move". Check the additional water's parameters and look upon this as a big water change.

Best of luck in the move!

few years back I moved my 29 into my 60 and did it in one afternoon. Although my tank became a bit dusty with the new sand and such, the tank params were right on so my inhabitants suffered not.

I am in the process of doing the same thing and I'm not too sure you should move everything at once. I moved almost all my LR from my existing tank over and some of live sand as well. This was about two weeks ago and tonight I was getting about .4-.5 on the nitrites. Just trying to warn you here. You may not have any problems at all.
