I just ordered a 4 stage Barracuda RO/DI 50 gpd from AquaFX. I am thinking that my tapwater is average to below average quality (I get about 40 gallons per TWP cartidge currently and don't have any diatom problems). I have no idea what that translates to for TDS. Would it be worthwhile to run the RO/DI water through a TWP column, or is that just overkill?

Second question is: in order to get my wife's concurrance with this purchase, I had to get the drinking water kit with it (3 gallon tank and countertop spigot). Is it easy to rig a hose to this kind of setup?

So far, I can't complain about the AquaFX people--I got the system cheaper than I could find for an equivalent Kent Hi-S Maxxima 35GPD and the person that took my order was an engineer.

The Barracudda has its own DI chamber (just like a TWP). My water isn't the greatest either and I get consistent 0ppm readings. Go ahead and skip the TWP.

I've never had a drinking water system, but I have played around with the John Guest fittings that come on the Barracudda. They're easy to connect and disconnect, so you should have no problems. I think the general consensus is to bypass the DI unit for drinking water and just use the RO water. I'm sure AquaFX can elaborate on how to hook it up.

I'm VERY happy with my Barracudda. I think you will be happy with yours as well.

Hope that helps,

I agree with Eboman's advice.

I am not exactly in the same boat as you and Eboman. I bought a 3-stage Dolphin from AquaFX. I already have a TWP, so I hook the RO output line into the TWP.

AquaFX - great people, great equipment and great service.
