I'm getting a 125 gallon tank pretty soon. I was thinking of buying 2 mag 2400gph pumps. Do you guys these are good or do you recommend something else. I wanted something that goes in sump. Is this good or should I go with out of sump??? thanx everybody

I like the idea of an external pump and look forward to reading which external pumps get recommended (if any). I am in the middle of building my sump, and need to order a pump, but will wait to see how your post fares before ordering a pump for my sump.

I have one in my sump for my 180. My overflows can't keep up with it and i put a valve on it to slow it down some. Works great though

I have a ampmaster3000 under my 180 gallon. You can throttle it down if you need too, I don't. It run on less than 1 amp and very little heat transfer. If advertises at 3000gph with 5'head.

I'm running an Iwaki. Can't remember if I got the 20Rl XT 20RLT. So far, so good! It's relatively quiet and hasn't put up any fuss at all in about a year. It replaced a Little Giant (what a POS!) That thing was NOISY and it heated my aquarium about 5 degrees!

Need to get a new one for my 110 gal (not yet ordered yet, I think it's growing into a 125)

Not sure what pump I'll settle on for it so I'm looking forward to seeing more replies to this post. I want a very QUIET pump for this one.

The tank I'm getting is going to be a custom tank from O'Dell. One of my friends works for, well, some aquarium product company I won't name (not O'Dell, but I'm not sure if I was supposed to leak this yet) and can get me a killer deal on one. The cool thing is that it's a new reef ready tank that they're putting out soon (within a month) and it's supposed to have the quietest overflow on the market! I guess I'll be doing some "market testing and research" for them.

No, I can't get special deals for anyone else so don't ask.

I decided to go with the amp master 3000 from dolphin. It has very good reviews and from what everybody is saying it is extremely quiet. So I'm going to cough out the cash now so I dont have to do it later. Thanx everybody for your help...

Another good thing about the Amp Master is its cheap to run. It uses half the watts the Mag 24 uses.
