i'm expecting an order from marine depot this AM! just sitting here anticipating getting them and trying to think of some way to not mess up the acclimatizing(-sp) like i did last time when one of the bags sank in the aquarium and let in more tank water than i would have liked at the moment.

any suggestions?

I use a clothes pin to hold the bag to the top of the tank (inside the bag, above the water level, about 1/2 way up). Others put tank water in a bucket, then put the bag in the bucket. Still others pour the contents of the bag inot another container, then add tank water to the container, then finally net out the fish when the acclimation is complete.

Hope this helps,

I pour the bag into another container then slowly add tank water, then net the fish and put em in. I also sometimes put some tank water in a bucket then float the bags in that and slowly add water. I do it this way cause my opening in the tank lid is too small for some of the larger or more than one bag without taking the top off. I haven't had any problems yet. "knock on wood!"

I float in a bucket to avoid accidents. Then I slowly add water fom the main tank, pour the specimen into a net over the bucket and add to the tank. Takes me about an hour or an hour and a half.

I take one gallon size water bottles (the square kind) and cut the tops off them. Then I pour the contents of the shipping bag into one. I take some airline tubing, tie some knots in it to restrict water flow, and run it from the tank to the water bottle to drip acclimate. It lets you do a slow acclimation without having to do much more then start the process and let it run in the background.

gentlemen, thank you thank you thank you.

i've just started acclimating the little guys. 9 bags! (it's a shipping cost thing) i'm using the paper clips on the side of the sump and tank method and the big bowl trick for the porite. he's heavy.

i'm worried. when i was taking the bags out of the box, i noticed that it looked like the heavy porite had been squashing the bubble tip anemone during transit... i've got my fingers crossed

again, thanks to you all who posted. big help!
