I have a 5" Derasa that does not open and come out the way it used to for a couple months. I just moved him and noticed there is a hole in him right above the siphon. Any ideas what I might do to help him?
Sounds like it may have a hole that may be caused by too strong of a light. Is that possible in your set-up? If so, move it to a lower light exposure area, and let it heal. Other than that, do you have any animals that may have nipped at it?
You are talking about the mantle, not the shell, right?
Yes, it is the mantle. I have 660 watts of VHO, so I don't think that did it. Now that I moved him to the sand - my Sohal keeps knocking him over. That will be my next problem.
