Does anyone know how to get rid of a stubborn curly-q anemone? I have one in my 50 gallon tank that I fed when it was just a baby growing on my liverock. It had gotten about 6 inches wide in diameter and I think it ate a few of my fishes. I wanted to remove it so I tried to pry it off the rock but it wouldn't budge. I ended up cutting it about an inch above the base. Though the top is gone, it looks like the base is starting to grow tentacles again. How should I have done it and how can I still do it?

Thanks.

This may take a little time, but you can try moving the rock it's on to a different place in the tank to make it "unhappy". It might start moving around and you can snatch it up while it's not holding onto anything too tightly. Try putting it close (but not too close!

Whoa hold on! Isn't "curlycue" another name for the Long Tentacle Anemone? (M. doreensis) We should be sure before this guy starts puoring boiling water over it!

Take a clean wooden tooth pick and put it into the anemone or it's crevace. Remove the rock and pour a small amount of boiling water into the crevace. Then take a screwdriver and scrape out the anemone. Then rinse the rock with saltwater in a bucket. Make sure any/all of the anemone are gone before placing them back in the tank.

Curlycue anemones are closely related to the dreaded aiptasia anemone. They too are capable of regenerating. If that fails you can inject them/it with boiling kalkwasser mix.
