I have been trying to think of a way to rid my tank of a Goby shrimp. He is diggin tunnels all the way down to my plenum and I am scared he will ruin the denitrification. He always stays in his tunnels and I can't think of any way to trap him I have three other shrimp in the tank and I fear I will only end up trapping these guys with whatever i come up with. Any suggestions

Maybe if you got a watchman Goby to go with him he might feel more secure and keep to one burrow. And one small disturbance in the plenum might be OK. But then i dont think plenums work anyhow, no better than a DSB.

Does the shrimp come out for food? If so you could try adding food to a net and wait. You may also be able to lure the shrimp out with food on a stick or string and then swoop the net under the shrimp.

The screen you set up your plenum should prevent this. I did lots of research many years ago, even read the original work but decided that the space under the sand bed just did not make much sense to me and just use a DSB instead.

I have a screen covering the bottom two in. of the substrate but the shrimp went to the side of the tank and dug around it reaching the bottom layer
