Fire fish fins damaged

Hi guys,

I'm getting frustrated. I have a fire fish that keeps having his fins (tail and dorsal) destroyed. As soon as they are almost healed it happens again. He is a little skittish but I don't see any of my other fish bugging him (two maroon clowns, yellow head sleeper goby, banggi cardinal, pacific cleaner [Labroides dimidiatus]red serpant star, tiger cuk, and three blue leg hermits). The only fish that share the same side of the tankis the goby, and the clearner swims all over but sleeps on the oppisit side.

It appears that the damage is happening at night.

Other then his fins he appears happy and eats a ton. I guess it hurts me more then him.

Any thoughts?

hi.
You need to get up late one night and see how the firefish is chased around the tank.

May sure you have a cover on your tank. The firefish will jump out any moment.

Thanks for the reply seven ephors! I have look st the tank at several times durning the night and he is always in his rubbel "home" and all other fish are in theirs as well.

Are they agressive to the firefish when feeding?

Hi Broker,

No, I haven't seen anything bother him at all. He is can pretty skittish though, and usually darts back into his home when the cleaner darts by in the current (the cleaner like to ride the "ride the waves" and is constanlty going back and forth till the lights go out then it's in his tiny cave till morning). I haven't seen any of my inhabitants harm or bother my fire fish.

I had to pin the blame I'd put it on the hermits; but I haven't seen them bother him either. The There are a lot of bristle worms in his home, but I have never seem damage like tis to a live fish from bristle worms (he has had their bristles on his nose before - but I don't think he's getting eaten alive, but I guess I could be wrong.)

Nothing has been added since I got him. And he wasa replacement that statred to get aggressive and suddenly took a chunck bit out of him by my strawberry gramma (Pseudochromis porphyreus) [BAD FISHIE

] which I had for two years without a problem; traded the straw for the new fire fish.

At the beginning,I've noticed tail damage on my fire goby.I think it was caused by digging sand with it.I felt bad about this,but later on it stopped doing it.Now it hides in small crevices,is healthy since a long time.
It might be the same with yours.
