--= just stained stand and canopy... have ? about protecting

alright, i just finished staining my stand and canopy and i have polyurethane clear gloss for sealing. my question is about the canopy. i painted the inside flat white so that it will reflect the light better. but should i spray the poly on the inside of the canopy over this flat white? won't this make the flat white become a gloss white since the poly is a gloss finish?... if it does, will it matter? thanks for any help on any of these questions. peace

a spar urethane would give you better protection...its an interior/exterior use product...that is interior product...due to the saltwater environment use the spar urethane...sand with fine grit sand paper between coats and use a tack cloth to remove dust prior to next coat...do at least 2 coats.

so don't use the poly at all on the inside of the canopy?... or just not the gloss finish? thanks for the help

I personally wouldn't do it. Should have just used a gloss latex paint instead if you wanted the shine. Urethanes (varnishes also) will yellow after some time. In order to repaint the white (if this happens) you have to sand and prime with oil base primer prior to topcoat the next time. I'd leave it. The flat will diffuse some of the light to.
