OK
You're right,I was just too busy with the new stuff.
I've got these for first time.
The torch is consisting of a skeleton with 3 dead lobes and 2 live ones (about 1").Two of the dead still had some green strips.
I've cut off all the dead and only left the 2 healthy ones in the tank. This for sure caused some trauma.
However,after about 5 hours,they are doing well,at feeding I've noticed them catching food.I've fed them,they look fine.
My questions:
-the polyp strips now are some brown, some green, some half way br.-half gr.
Is this the normal way,if not, what color they should be?
-at lfs they told me that they received it with the 2 dieing lobes. This might be one cause, but I suspect that it is just (or also) hungry.Knowing the cases of sun corals at the lfs-es around and experiencing the hunger of this one,I have hopes of mine growing well.
-do they have an oral cavity(like the bouble c. ?
-how often to feed?(right now, being new,I'll specifically feed them daily).
-where to place it,full light,or medium?
-do they glow in the dark?
-how big they grow(if someone has experience in captivity)

The xenia.
I've got one that was stripped off the glass,is a bit smaller than my fist.I've rubber banded it slightly to a rock and next day I've noticed that it gives up (getting cut) where the band is.I removed the band and it was already attached.
Questions:
-how agressive they are?(according to the person I've got it,they grow like crasy, but how they cope with others?)
-feed or not,if yes,how often?
-how big they grow in captivity, how fast?

Also wich other corals are glowing in dark?
What's your best way to watch it?(any special lighting in the tank,or outside it?)

-How easy-hard is to keep long tentacle plate corals to keep?
-where to keep them(is it OK on the substrate?)
-feeding?
-growth?
Thanks.FM

I have no personal experience with the torch coral, but I have several species of xenia.

In my experience, the xenia are fairly hearty, but require decent lighting (heavy Power Compact or more) and grow like a weed when the conditions are right. I do not feed them, and mine grow quickly. You should notice a difference in a period of a week or less. As they spread, I use stainless steel scissors to seperate clumps from the main colony taking care to only cut between two pieces that are firmly attached to rock- this way I don't have to reattach either piece using a rubber band. When I cut them, it only makes them grow faster.

When your pH gets to the right level, they will pump like crazy, which is fun to watch. If the water movement is strong enough, they will sway in the current and will not pump. If the water current is too strong, they will close up.
