I have an AGA 75 gallon tank, an Oceanic 75/105 oak cap, and six 36" VHOs under the cap. The bulbs are an inch or two above the water. I have room for two 3" diameter fans, one at each end of the cap, but I removed them because they were so noisy. Instead, I am cutting large holes in the sides and top of the hood and installing vent covers over the holes to provide more air circulation. In addition, I may hook up the hood to a silent bathroom-type exhaust fan mounted in the closet adjacent the tank if necessary. I went with 36" bulbs because I wanted room for two Sea Swirls at each end. Otherwise, I would have used 48". HTH.

Was wondering if anyone has tried to fit a VHO lighting system under an Oceanic brand cap? It doesn't look like there is enough room and there is no place to mount the fans. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Not sure what size hood you have but mine is a Oceanic 105g hood 5ft long with 4 removable top panels. I have 4 48" VHO bulbs under it now(plan to add a couple more) On my hood there is a center brace for the top covers that runs long way. I have two braces that run width way and have the sockets for the light mounted to those. I don't have any pics of it yet but when i do I'll post them for you

PS I also have a fan mounted at each end of hood.4" I think had to use big hole saw and mount the fans on the outside (both fan and hood are black so thry blend in)
