jcb152,
Depends how much actinic lamps are being used. For the most part, you can keep all the types of soft corals including xenia with min. of one daylight bulb and most, if not all the types of LPS with min. of 2 daylight lamps(higher # equals better growth/results). Anemones like the bubble tip can be kept under VHO(min. of 2 daylight) but must be fed frequently. I'm not quite sure about clams but the less colourful ones, I believe can be kept under VHO(again the more daylight the better). Now SPS is another story, they require a tremendous amount of light to retain their colours. One thing for sure, I know that purple/orange montipora and any brown acropora can be easily kept under min. of 2 daylight bulbs but must be kept above mid level. For the other more colourful SPS, I'm not quite sure but theoretically with 4 daylight equalling 440W should be able to maintain them but I have never heard of any reefers keeping colourful SPS under VHO. So be careful if you plan on keeping SPS in tank. Lastly take your time in selecting the right corals for tank because you will later find out that you can only have a maximum of livestocks in tank. Softies will grow and thrive under VHO and will need a lot of space for growth(some softies actuattly sting/irritate other corals upon contact{sinularia sp., some clove polyps). So plan ahead and be very selective. Hope this helps and goodluck!
