lamps now VHO ballast

Does anyone run NO bulbs with the vho ballast from www.lampsnow.com ? If so, Does it work?

You mean bulbs from like any old harware store or special aquarium bulbs? How long do the bulbs last?

i got the tubes at Home Depot, they where about $2.50 each... They are bright, and not too yellow.. So far I've had them for 2 weeks working great, the ballast runs much cooler thanwith the VHO's and the tubes are cooler also....

Thanks. I'm probably going to order the ballast but I can't afford the bulbs at this point. I will use NO bulbs till I can get the VHO tubes. I appreciate your response.

I ordered the 48inch retro fit kit and the bulbs...the ballast didn't work, BUT..the service people were extremely nice and are shipping us another one..and they are paying for the return shipping on the broke one...we hope to get the new ballast in early next week..and i'll FINALLY get to buy some corals

I do, it works great, I use the philips 40watt 6,5k tubes...
