Hi all,

I'm building a new stand for my 72 gal bowfront. The tank has black trim, but I'm wondering if the stand might look better if I stained it. Anyone have a black trimmed tank on a stained stand? Any pics?

Thanks,

Ryan

i had the same question just a couple of days ago... although i didn't post it. i have a 55gal that has black trim plus all my living room furniture is black so i wanted to do the stand and canopy in black. well my fiance didn't... so to keep from argueing i stained it. the color was red mahagonnay(sp) and it looks great. i'll post some pics tomorrow if you'd like... i'm finishing up on the poly coat right now. i would like to say that my stand and canopy have trim that covers the fishtank trim though. so that was of mute issue to me. but i would have to say that even a stained stand with the black trim showing would look good. hope this helps, peace

As others have said, it's really whatever floats your boat. Personally, I like the look of wood, assuming it's decent quality. If it's plywood, I would probably paint it.
