Ok,this was a new one.

1 week ago I made my final (for a long while) fish purchase of a flame angel and a sixline wrasse. Both seem to be fine (kinda nervous 'bout the flame with all the bad publicity this summer) until last night. I got home from work and one of my peppermint shrimp was at a stand off with the sixline wrasse. The sixline was missing a small portion of his tail fin, and the corner of one of his pectoral fins. He is only 1 and a half inches long, the pepp. almost 2inches. Suddenly, the sixline charged, grabbing the shrimp by one of his legs, and dropped him from the top of the water column. As my Q-tank was already inhabited by a neon goby with a wound that had to be treated, I couldn't get to the shrimp until this had been done several times by the sixline, by then the shrimp was irreparibly damaged. According to my girlfriend, the shrimp had been going after the sixline all afternoon. Has anyhone else seen anything like this?

These are natural mortal enemies. Since we keep pepps in every tank we can't keep wrasses...kind of sucks sometimes......

i had a six line wrasse in an established tank and added two peppermint shrimp. the six line immediately attack one and killed it. i assummed that he killed the other one also. about six months later i had to move the tank to a new location and when i pulled the rock out, out popped a peppermint shrimp. so in answer to your question your six line will probably kill the shrimp unless they can hide during the day and come out at night like mine did. i didn't see it at all for six months. by the way my tank was a 40 gallon.
