Coral Mood Swings

WHy is it some days corals just decide to look crappy, like not fully expanding, my do this once in a while particulary the green star polyps and a sunflower. My alk is at 3.4 calcium is 450, ph 8.2, phosphates 0.1 and nitrates 10 , salinity at 1.023 and temp at 80. Could it be they just have bad days just like the rest of us.

Hi, pikka. I think you are right that they show how how they feel. There are good days and bad days but more good than bad or something is wrong. We have a bright yellow Fiji leather that looks magnificent when polyped out but then it looks dead for several hours of every day.....It has doubled at least in size over the last year and we don't worry about its moods anymore.
