Hi,

I'm moving an hour and a half away and would like some advice. I plan on changing from CC to a DSB and figured this move would be the perfect time. All I have right now is a baby snowflake eel and a dominoe in a 90g. 2 pieces of LR and limestone, not much, just started a few months ago. Any help would be appreciated. These are my concerns.

The best way to house the eel and dominoe for the move.

Amount of time before I reintroduce them into the new tank with the new sand and new water.

Should I keep the eel and dominoe together at all during the move.

Thanks again.

I moved a reef tank, corals, fish, invertabrates, 50 lbs of live rock just by using a few easily attainable tools. I bagged the fish up separately in baggies and stored them in a cooler. Same with the coral, same with the invertabrates. I used a rubbermaid container for the live rock, filled it with some water and placed wet news paper over the top along with the lid. I saved as much water as I could from the tank, but made sure I had plenty of premixed RO to compensate for any loss. You should be all set with the change to DSB, because that will be one less thing to worry about. I would soak the substrate anyway to minimize cloudiness.

Good Luck!

Make sure you mix your old sand thoroughly with the new sand to prevent a mini cycle starting over again. I would use a trash bag inside of the cooler to house both the eel and domino. Fill water up 2/5 of the volume and leaving 3/5 for air. This way, they have more water/oxygen = less stress. They should be OK to be placed in same container. If you are worried, use 2 coolers.

Most LFS will gladly give you baggies and rubberband for this purpose......That is if you are their frequent customer. Also, very important, DON'T tell them you are moving away........
