Using tha salifert tests, I got a reading of 21 on the dKH and 600 on the calcium test --- twice. I haden't tested in at least 3 weeks, and for the last week, I had increased the co2 input in my calcium reactor resulting in these high numbers. I assumed that the ca & carbonate output could not exceed a certain level and therefore more or less co2 wouldn't matter.

So, from a chemical perspective, can these readings be valid?

Sounds pretty fishy to me. How much Ca and alk you can maintain in solution, of course, will depend on the pH of the system. Check out Craig Bingman's homepage for more details on these chemical relationships.

I'd be surprised if these were the true numbers. I mean, those numbers sound like what I get from the effluent coming out of my rxr. If your system pH is low, I guess you could have numbers this high without a snowstorm.
