I have a brown condy and a purple tipped one. My Maroon Clown takes turns in each. He eats what he wants and then feeds all the condys. Pretty cool stuff!

Does anybody here have a Stychodactyla haddoni? Does it accept the tomato clown? I´ve read an Ron Shimek´s article and he has one for several years in his tank.

The Anemone-Hogs i.e. Clarkii Complex and Tomato Complex will readily adapt to Condy's. However since Condys are caribbean and Clowns are from the indo-pacific (C-Quest Puerto Rican clowns don't count!) the Condy isn't obviously a natural host.

Does that matter? I think ummmmmm.....no.

S. haddoni has a very POOR track record in captivity. A few years ago Joyce Wilkerson did a survey of advanced aquarists and less than 80% could keep one longer than 1 year. I personally think this is less the skill of the aquarist as the luck. Estimates are that maybe 1 in 30 or 40 survive collection and shipping and adapt to life in aquaria. These ones prove to be relatively hardy and may last along time if they are provided a high quality stable environment with plenty of light and food. However keep in mind that keeping one in captivity for a couple years is not exactly a success since these animals are basically immortal in the wild and some of been determined to be 150 years old.

I personally no longer bring in wild specimens, however I do occasionally buy from customers who are breaking down their tanks etc.

Never have I had a clown attach itself to a condylactus. A LTA, BTA, or a Bulb anenome, YES! My clown was more attached to the hair algae on one of my rocks then the condylactus. IME Tomato Clowns love Bulb anenomes!
