I have a 27 G tank with 2 301 power heads for circulation. Both are currently about 2 inches below the water line near the back of the tank. 1 points toward front and down and the other straight ahead. I have read that with out proper circulation, out breaks of algae can occur. Should I lower 1 power head down? How much water circulation is too much? I don’t want to come 1 day and see my fish looking like there are stuck on a merry-go-round.

Im assuming they are hagan powerheads if so the are adjustable outputs. There is a little tab on the bottom that can be moved in a semicircle to increase or decrease flow. so you should be able to make whatever changes are necessary.

I have the same 301's on my 37. If your came with an adaptor that slides over the square outlet in place of the defuser then you can easily adapt it to a spray bar.

just buy some 1/2 pvc pipe, cut to length, glue on an endcap, and drill holes at desired intervals. you will have to ream out the inside edge of the pipe to fit it to the adaptor but it is easy.

I usually just change the direction of mine every week or two. It doesn't take but a minute to stick your hand in the tank and turn them. No matter what, you will get some sort of algae outbreak somewhwere on the glass. Just scrape it off.
