I recently starting losing snails at an alarming rate and it was after I added this banded shrimp. Do banded shrimp prey on snails or do they just est them after they die???? Is there anyone else who has had this problem???

How long after you added the snails did you notice them dying? Days? Hours? Months?

If you have only recently added them how long did you acclimate them for?

What kind of snails are they?

I've got a pair of Coral banded shrimp and many cerinth snails(the atlantic turbo snail) and some other snails and they are still going strong with no snail deaths for 2 years or so. I would say its not the shrimp also. Check your water. Aclimate better.

Do you have any hermits. They have taken out a number of my snails when they needed a new home.

No real evidence here, but My CBS hangs underneath one particular rock at the far end of tank. If I crane my head, and look under that rock, there is a snail graveyard under there. The hermits only go there to pick up a new shell, and I don't see them involved in a killing, feeding spree.

Like I said no real evidence, but if the glove fits....

GBS like many invertebrates are individuals, mine likes to munch on red legs. I think that once they have recognised something as a new source of food its difficult to change their behaveour.
