a month ago i replaced my rio 2100 for a mag 5 as my return pump. today i made up a batch of water for my water change tomorrow. i put the rio in the the brine tank to keep it agitated. a couple hours later, i went to check the salinity and adjust as necessary. nothing was running in the brine tank. the air pump, heater and rio were dead. i checked the breaker and sure enough, one had tripped. i reset it and by the time i got back down to the basement where i was mixing the water, it had tripped again. hmmm, i unplugged the rio and reset the breaker again. all stayed running. i pulled out the rio and it stunk like an overloaded circuit. even in the minute or two that the rio ran after setting the breaker, it was hot. the water smells wrong. guess i'll have to put off this water change until the ro can crankout another 15 gallons.
so, thanx to all who recommended replacing the rio. i owe you a beer.
can i wash my brine tank and heater with a bit of vinegar to help remove any residue?
thanx again
