Well, I must be getting old & cranky, cause I am finally tired of 'schlepping' to my local filtered water store with 15-20 gallons of jugs every 7-14 days.....and am looking to take th eplunge on an RO unit.

He has a Water Company SCC1 unit that he is willing to sell me at his cost which is approx. $160 (inc; faucet, and all tubing and connectors). It will output 10-15 G per day, which is OK except when I wish to do major water changes. It also includes a 4 gallon tank, that stores the water after it's purified.

I've noticed people on this board raving about Ocean Encounters as a source for RO units. In fact, for the same money, I could buy a Cyclone from them, but it would output 100 G per day.

I have no way of plumbing directly into my tank, so the 4 gallon storage tank is a nice feature.

Looking for anyone's thoughts on the water qualities of these units? Or other feedback.

TIA

The housing for RO system are the same. There are no real differences between them. Most of the housing are make of interchangeable components. The membranes are only produce by TWO companies, DOW chemical and one other company (I forgot the name). You can do a search on RO membrane on the Internet and read all you need to know.
I would get the 100g/d system and then get the storage tank at a department hardware store and hook them up. I know that Lowe Hardware have the 4 g pressurized storage tank for RO system for about 40 dollars.
