Update, I hated the idea of flushing the Mantis and really didn't want to set up another tank.
The guy at the LFS agreed to give him a home in his own tank. Unfortunately, I'm still hearing an occasional click from the tank. I'll have to wait for the tell tale sign of the repetitive snaps to see if I'm back on the warpath.

I'm glad you didn't flush him, after all, it wasn't his fault that he ended up in your tank! Glad that the LFS took him in. There are a surprising amount of people who WANT a mantis. Over at reefcentral, they have an entire forum for them.
I have one in my tank, but I assure you that he wouldn't be there if I could catch him! I would much rather he be in his own tank, then sharing the one he's in now.

I've have a nano-reef 10G setup that I offered safe haven for a mantis (rode in on TBS shipment) for about 2 months now. That is, until one of my starfish was missing. The leading suspect, Osama bin Mantis. I ousted him from the tank this morning and now he takes up temporary residence in a 1 quart measuring cup. I have three choices, set up another nano, try to trade him at the LFS (not sure if they want him), or see if anyone here wants him. Actually, there's one more choice, which is the easiest, sacrifice him to the porcelain god.
Anyway, if I do setup another nano, are there any other creatures I can put in there with him that would be safe?
