Hi folks,

I am going to build a new hood for my tank. I have 2 VHO 48" bulbs powered by an Icecap 430, and 2 NO 48" bulbs powered by an Icecap 3000. Total = 330 watts.
I have them in sheet-metal fixtures (double strip lights) from Home Depot, but want to simplify and just use end-caps fastened right to the wood of my hood.
Which end caps do you recommend?
TIA

I got my waterproof endcaps from my LFS. They're sort of hard to mount unless you have the little "mounting things".

Check out Premium Aquatics or one of the other sponsors of reefs.org. I know PA has endcaps and the little mounting things for pretty cheap. I like the three part endcaps. My new ones are two part and seem to work pretty nicely as well. BJB is a good manufacturer, but my new ones are a 'off-brand' and seem to work just fine.

Hope that helps,

I got my VHO endcaps from Champion Lighting. I wouldn't use anything else now after having found these, as they work well, last forever, and don't melt.

I believe that Pet Warehouse on-line has them, too, along with those pesky plastic mounting clips -- required for adapting them to mount with regular wood screws instead of the machine screws needed for the holes threaded into the endcap feet.
