What advantage will I see when using an RO/DI purifier rather than simply RO?

Also, how do you pronounce "nudibranch"?

As far as RO vs. RO/DI I think the difference is RO removes everything and DI I believe has something to do with recharging the ions or something like that to help water quality (I am absolutely positively unsure of this information!).

DI water filters do total water purification(dionized water), while RO remove most stuff from water but may lets some things through. A combination RO/DI is the best way to go, the RO will get most of the impurities out and the DI will finish the job. You may be able to get by with just an RO depending on how bad your water is. DI alone will also work, but gets expensive if using a lot of water because the resins are costly. I would buy an RO unit that you can easily attach a DI filter to if needed later on.

I run a AquaFX RO with a Tap Water Purifier as the DI part. I like the TWP because you can easily see the resins changing color when they are getting used up.

Could chemi pure be used as DI after it goes through the RO. Other than Tap Water Purifier what else could be used if you don't have a DI catridge?

Nm I believe chem pure is a carbon.I have only used it once many, many, moons ago.My point is the RO already has a carbon prefilter,so it is not necessary to run it through twice and no it will not accomplish the same purpose of the DI.RO systems consist of sedement prefilter, then carbon prefilter, then RO membrane, mine being a (TFC)Thin Film Composite. After that comes the DI stage. This polishes the water giving you a laboratory grade water.Ideal for reef tanks!!
