I'm moving from California to Colorado soon and would like to move my liverock, corals, and fish with me in the car. Does anyone know if this is against the law?

Thanks.

In most states it is against the law to travel with a fish unless it is wearing a seat belt. I don't know about corals and liverock.

Corals must be in a protective car seat designed for the specific genus....

there are no laws regarding the interstate transport of Cnidaria that I know of. One must have a CITES permit to get them in the country but once in the country there are no restrictions.

This is not legal advice, I am not a lawyer though sometimes I play one on IRC... =)

FishDude, you have been living in CA too long! Somethings are not yet regulated outside CA.

As long as there not wrapped in ziploc baggies and stashed in coffee beans under the seat, you should be alright.

Sorry, I couldn't resist

You can transport most marine life, the only one I would be concerned about is a pistol shrimp, and I don't think I would try a bullet skimmer either.

If you really want to test the laws, not to mention the taste buds of the police, make sure you put a little kalkwasser powder in a baggie on the passenger's seat.

It's fine to let fish ride with you. But if you share the driving with them don't let them drink. You know what they say about fish.

Okay, okay... thanks for the replies. You guys actually got me confused at first with all the joking, but I had a good laugh. RichMacys, I actually seatbelt my fish and livestock too when transporting them in the car. That's why I almost took 2poor2reefs' comments seriously

I'd like to see the cop taste it!
