First question in a while. How to get coraline off pumps?

In our labs, we stick the stuff in dilute hydrochlric acid. But I'm worried it might erode the pump seals and then the pumps would leak toxins into the water. Anyone got any better ideas?

Also, how do I freshen up the suction cups?

Kalk- It's because the whole thing is covered, even the strainer is sealed shut. Also, I took it out of the water, and now it is all white. There's even tube projections coming off of it. I'll try the vinegar thing. Thanks.

I have had good luck with vinegar, but only when I heat it up to almost boiling first

Pumps and powerheads need to be cleaned out periodically to keep them functioning properly. I soak mine in white vinegar overnight, then clean them out good. The dead coralline will come off pretty easily with a rough cloth.
