Where can you get a new skimmer of one of those three brands for $150? I would look for a good used one if that's all you can spend. I have no personal experience with a good in-sump skimmer for $150 or less (I assume that includes the pump). If you're looking for a new skimmer you might try marinedepot or premiumacquatics as they generally have the best prices on new equipment in my experience.

One option might be to use a hang-on on your sump if you're using a regular aquarium for a sump. Another would be to use a hang-on that has been adapted to sump use. An AquaC Urchin is one such model that I believ is within $25 of your price range. I have no experience with it personally. I do have a precision marine HOT-1 which I like very much and I have heard it said that they can be adapted for in-sump use. I've seen it for $169 with pump included. You might want to contact the folks at precision marine and ask how it works/can be modified for sump use.

Don't skimp on your skimmer. This is an important piece of equipment. For a little more money you can get an excellent skimmer!Keep in mind you may want to upgrade in the future.

I currently have a 55 gal w/ 50lbs LR, CC, and a Trickle Filter. I plan to have a Fish only tank with a few anemones. I would like a skimmer to fit inside my trickle filter but I am limited for room as my pump and heater are in the filter(don't want a hang on). Can anyone suggest a decent In sump skimmer around $120-$150?
