The only difference I know of is that the African has a yellow tail and the Brazilian has a blue one. Just got an African on Thursday - still a bit shy but a beauty
The Brazilian flame back or "fireball angel" as it is commonly known as has a much wider orange band across it's face and back than the African specie.
Also consider that Brazil is much closer to the United States than Africa which makes the shipping transit time significantly less.....limiting the stress on the fish.
In my opinion, the Brazilian flame back's are much hardier and healthier than the African sp....in the past the Brazilian ones have been alot more expensive, but not so much anymore.
