I'm weighing up rebuilding my DIY DI filter comapred to simply buying a commercial system.

If I buy a commercial system I will want a RO / DI unit. I'll want to run off a feed before the DI part of the filter for drinking water - so RO drinking water and RO/DI reef water.

Filters available in New Zealand are really not up to par, and they're also woefully overpriced. I plan to import one from the US, fully expecting that freight will double its cost - I'll still be saving money over buying an equivalent filter locally.

In terms of RO/DI systems what is the best value unit? I've been looking at the "Dave's ReefPure" units and they seem reasonable.

Are there units that come standard with two taps - one for RO water and one for RO/DI? If not, how easily can I get the parts needed to make a modification to acheive this? I wonder whether a "T" off the feed line would be enough, or whether I would need a non-return valve on the DI resin side of the connection.

Look on Ebay for a RO/DI unit. I got one from Reefpure.net on Ebay for under $100. They have all kinds and are normally able to ship internationally. I am sure that they might also know how to use it like you want and may even have the parts. You would just have to email them before you bid to make sure the will ship it to you and they have the parts.
