WASSAP!
my Bday is around the corner and I'm thinking of getting a small reef for my room, around 25-40 gallons. I really want the convenience of a sump, but I don't know if you can put a sump on a small tank. Plus, the overflows are just to big and space consuming for a tiny tank. is there a way to do this?
MUCH MAHALOS!

Get your small tank drilled and add your own overflow. The overflow wouldn't need to be that big, you would only need to run about 100 gallons an hour, if that.

. I wish now I had put a BIGGER sump on my 38 gal. The 20 long sump has gotten full quick. I would definately get the tank drilled for one overflow.

The smaller the tank the easier/safer it is to drill. I would have a local glass shop drill it for you. You can make the overflow yourself w/ black acrylic. Keep us posted on the progress.
