I have had my hang on torboflotor 1000 for two months and there have always been lots of bubblles pouring out of the outflow box into the tank. As the tank has matured, I have been happy with the high efficiency of the skimmer. Now though, I have two clowns introduced and would prefer to reduce the number of bubbles entering the tank. When the flow control taps are fully open, the foam cup fills up very quickly with clear water. At the moment, both control taps are half open and the foam cup fills about a quarter of an inch per day and the liquid is brown. Are the bubbles acceptable? Should I not be fussing? What can I do to solve this problem?
Secondly, the silencer is noisy. It makes a hissing sound that is louder than I would prefer. Please tell me what the purpose is of the testube? Should it be full of water? Mine is always dry and just reduces the noise a little. I really would appreciate some quality advice from experienced turboflotor owners. Thanks, CJ

I have a similar 'problem' but with my seaclone skimmer. Most of my problem is the water drop being so far and flow rate quite brisk thus creating more bubbles in the return. My solution was to get a small plastic box, drill many holes in bottom, place a piece of sponge in box to reduce flow noise and attach to side of tank under skimmer retun with a couple of suction cups, this works for me as water now trickles back in.

I effected a similar treatment for my Sea Clone. Affixing an Aquaclear sponge lengthwise with a rubber band helped alot. Also, the problem was much worse after cleaning the powerhead or when evaporation was high. A customer told me they had heard the bubbles may be an issue with surface tension of the water (High salinity?) To be perfectly honest, just keeping the tank topped really high took care of most of the problems.

CJRodders,

I've got the same skimmer as you. The silencer works much better if you put a small sponge in it. (Even toalet paper works great
