My guess is Upstate means Rochester/Buffalo Western NYS area and that is a good haul from the city. Not Texas size, but a good distance none-the -less. you probably could put something together--- we don't really have meetings other than the swaps, so you'll probably have to look elsewhere. RD

If you're in town, it would be great to see a presentation on the DIY stuff... like Randy said, we don't normally have meetings, but maybe we could find a space and gather a few people. I'd be very interested.

The new fan looks great Marc! And only 11 trips to the attic lol
What no central air? Figured everyone down there had it...
A reef tank in Texas during the summer must be a challenge, and I thought we had it bad up here.

Good to hear you're originally from NYC! I'd bet one of the more local clubs down here (LIRA Or Brooklyn Aquarium) would gladly book a presentation by you while you're in our neck of the woods, even if it was on a day they don't usually meet...ya have made yourself kinda special to us you know...sooooo much great info on your site.:)

I don't know why I didn't get any notifications for your replies this evening, but since I was sitting on woot.com looking for goodies, I thought I'd check back.

I have central a/c for the house, but I'd have to keep the home 74F or so to keep the tank temperature in the low 80s. It costs almost .15 kwh now, so I tend to keep the house closer to 80F and the fishroom at 79F, and the tank doesn't get over 82F (at the most). The goal range is 79.5 - 81.5F

Have to say that Texas has the Cadillac of highways. I helped a friend move/drive from Austin out to San Diego. The highways were glass smooth. Not as cool as the banked exit ramps in SoCal though (which just encourages high speed exits and visions of NASCAR).

Welcome Marc. Thanks for putting so much of your time into teaching others in this hobby. Your site is a boon to the hobby. It would be great to see you at our upcoming frag swap event.

Fritz, the woot-off continues. I just got back from work and there's wine to be purchased. :D

I had no idea your electricity is so high. Our was .09 until about two years ago when deregulation kicked in. That didn't work out at all, imho.

Thank you Wes & techreef. I'm glad my site continues to help. I currently looking for bi-ligual volunteers that would be willing to translate the more popular pages into other languages so it can be useful worldwide.

Did I miss something? I only see a Dell Laser Printer :(
I want the wine! And no Manischewitz or Kedem here!

Mark, if you can let us know when the URS is having you up for a presentation, I'm sure we can gather a real nice group of manhattan reefers to make a presentation in the downstate region worthwhile. Just give us more than 24 hr notice.

Russ, during a Woot-off, as soon as one item sells out (this one has a way to go with 83.3% still for sale), the next item pops up. Some stuff sells lighting fast, other stuff will take so long it is called a "woot killer" because everything comes to a screeching halt as we wait until some people buy it all.

All I know is that URS was hoping that I could come out in May, but I've not heard anything more specific than that. As soon as I know something, I'll be sure to let you know.

To be honest you don't even have to talk about reefing, you could just have a few with the members and relax. Reef talk will happen and the brew will flow :lol2:

I've purchased from woot before. Never a woot-off though. Where do you see the percentage sold? They've got the gaming headphones on there now. I'm used to just checking woot once a day (1 am EST).
