I asked about FAMA before and they said that it was just a mess of ads and were they right! Of the 200+ pages in this magazine there can't be much more than 10 full pages of articles. What a joke! They give sea scope away with very little or no ads but you have to pay 4 bucks for this big ad! Guess you guys were right, i don't see why anyone would support this money hungy magazine.

I think its funny that they have a billion ads of places that sell to the public with prices that are like half that of their LFS and they put a little box that says "support your LFS" at the end. Give me a break!

You may not be happy with all the ads in FAMA but I don't think any other magazine has more saltwater & reef articles in it. It definitely takes me longer to read through it than any of the others and I generally ignore the ads.

Well...

Seascope is printed and distributed by a corporate entity. It is nothing but a gigantic Aquarium Systems advertisement. Usually no less than 2 of the 4 articles mention the use of Maxijets or IO salt etc. Thus while I enjoy reading it it must be taken with a serious grain of salt.

For instance that "comparison" and I use that term REAL loosely of the EcoSystem Aquarium versus a badly setup "Berlin" aquarium. Leng Sy promotes Instant Ocean salt on his website, and this article appears in an Aquarium Systems publication. Seascope has it's merit but one has to read it with a skeptical eye.

FAMA is mostly advertising I agree, I still enjoy flipping through it and Aquarium Fish on occasion, but the lead times are so ridiculously far ahead, and most of the articles are rather outdated. The most current up to date information is going to be found right here on the internet.

Mildly OT, but just wanted to throw the thought out there......

Two of my favorite magazines, In-Fisherman and National Geographic, are models to follow when it comes to magazines. Both of them have stories that are long enough to actually bother reading, and have worthwhile content. The best part is that you don't have to dig through the back to figure out where the heck the last 2 columns of the article are continued- the story runs start to finish in one piece.

I don't mind the quantity of ads in FAMA, because the articles are completely useless and mostly ridiculous, in my opinion. I read Aquarium Fish sometimes, but I particulary enjoy the Reef Annual issue.
