I have a 65 Gallon Reef tank for almost 8 mths now. The tank has one internal filter, 2 hang-on filter and 1 reena canister filter for filtration. There is no sump or overflow in this tank. I change 10% of water and vaccum my sand bed once every two weeks.
My fish and corals are thriving till this day.
I am now looking for a bigger tank probably 120G to replace my existing tank. My LFS has recommended me a tank with built-in overflow to a smaller tank below. The smaller tank will have crushed coral + some bio balls for filtration. Is this right or wrong ??
I feel my vendor proposed configuration makes no difference to using a canister filter. In the long term, debris and dirt will accumulate and I have to remove all the crushed coral in order to remover the dirt and debris ? This is hell a lot of work compared to emptying a canister filter.
Pls advise me !!
