The skimmer broke in about a week ago and started producing lots of yellow liquid. After some tinkering with the air valve i much darker skimmate, i'll keep tinkering until i get it darker w/ dry foam. I'm very impressed w/ this skimmer (it's an EV-180), in retrospect my thread about trying to pick between a turbofloater 1000 and this skimmer seems silly. Hands down, this skimmer rocks and it pulls out way more than any turbofloater 1000 we have at the shop. It's in a custom sump made by Jason from AquaC, the sump came out very nice also. His site is www.proteinskimmer.com , Jason is really helpfull and the custom stuff is reasonably priced and of good quality.

This is what the tank looks like now, it's been running for a few short weeks (due to time constraints and lack of a better option ALL of my sps and clams had to go into this tank when it wass only a week old, i haven't lost anything yet and nothing seems to have bleached or stressed).

This is the whole sump, it's 30"x16"x14", water enters from the left and leaves via 2 mag 9's on the right. A refugium is in the middle surrounded by baffles, i'll get sand in it sometime soon, for now just some rock rubble and my trusty green brittle star.

Mmmmm... Skimmate...

Just thought i'd share!

BTW, i'm on a hunt for a calcium reactor now, either Geo, Myreef, AquaC (i've heard that he's working on a calcium reactor model now), any advice?

Another thing, any good totally free image hosting out there? This one i have now is kind of a pain.

Looks good Monkeyboy, the next time before you take a picture would you mind putting all those additive bottles in the cabinet where they belong?

monkeyboy what type of pump are you using, I was wondering if you could use a mag9.5 on the EV-180 model, thanks again.

Jeremy: There is a fancy aqua-c waste collector out there, i've yet to get ahold of one though.

Lionfish: I'm using a mag 7 on it. I think a mag 9 would push too much thru it, go with their reccomendation: mag 7, rio 2500, sen 700, dolphin 800, or iwaki 20 rlt. Yep, the gate valve is threaded.

Thanks for the replies!

Monkeyboy, sorry I had to go the Lifereef route got a VS3-36" , AquaC will not fit in sump, all my pumps are in my sump including my return pump, not to crazy about external pumps, and not looking to get new sump either, youre skimmer looks like its working very well and pulling out some real crap, I just hope Jeffs skimmer is just as good, cya.
