Off topic, but can you tell me what is the difference between the duties of the police officer and sheriff? Is there any cross overs? & lastly, if I see a police car on the highway, does he has jurisdiction to catch me speeding(and he is not a highway patrol)?
I believe California has the same rules about Jurisdiction as we do. They are all STATE CERTIFIED. Which means any Law Enforcement Officer in the state can stop you no matter where they are. Police Officer's, Sheriff's, and Highway Patrol are all Law Enforcement. The only difference is their main duty. Too many people believe that the Highways can only be patroled by the Highway Patrol. The truth is, City Police can patrol Highways just as the Highway Patrol can patrol city streets.

Hmmmm. I wonder if you've ever chased my brother Bob around Rapid City or the Black Hills.
