I'm new to the hobby so I'm relaying the advise that I received when I encountered the same thing with my sojo tang. The marine store clerk told me to do a fresh water dip for approx, 5-10 minutes. I was also advised to use a garlic elxure while feed the tang. Like I has mentioned, I'm not the most experienced in this hobby. But doing this worked for me and my tang. Good luck

I have a Hippo tang with a growth or a parasite on his upper lip. First noticed it yesterday morning. It is white sort of cylinder shaped and tapers to a point. No fuzzy appearance like associated with a fungal infection so I am leaning toward some type of parasitic copepod. The tang is eating well and does not appear stressed but I'm sure it is not doing him any good. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on what it might be and what to do about it if anything. Don't believe I could catch him for a Q-tank if I wanted to, he is very good at wedging into the LR. Tank is a 55FOWLR/LS and a few softies. Tang has been in for almost a year with no prior problems to speak of. Thanks,
