My tank was BEAUTIFUL till I moved it!!! It only had coraline algae and some green algae that grew on the glass. NOW it is COVERED in fuzzy green algae everywhere, ALso my Aptasia population is REALLY growing. I only had an occasional one or two over the last 4 years I have had the tank set up. I only use Reverse osmosis water and do frequent water changes (20% twice a month) Shouldnt the filter get all the phosphates out. I feed my fish VERY little, and never had a problem with this or red algae before. My phospate test read trace amounts but VERY low. Of course, I never trusted these phospate test anyway. 1.024 salt, 8.3 PH, no nitrates, no nitrites and no ammonia. It is a 90 gallon and I have 2x175 10K MH(true germans)and 2X110 actinics. The good thing is that the XENIA, mushrooms, and polyps are REALLY growing and looking good, As far as the aptasia I was considering 3 peppermint shrimp but will my Austrailian Flame Hawk eat them?? I have these in another propagation tank and never have any aptasia. The funny thing is I do everything the same in the propagation tank except I add more calcium to that one and some more additives. Please help me, It has already taken over the tank and i am worried it will screen out all the light needed.

I don't know about the flame hawk. You may have a problem with the peppermint. You may want to put it in your other tank while the peppermints go after the aptasia.
Are you hanging yours lights lower than you had before? That may be the cause of the algae. An inch makes a difference.
Consider a small sailfin tang. You will have to give it up later as it will grow. Than again you may get a larger tank,

No lights are in the same place. The actinics are getting to be about 6-7 months old and about ready to be replaced. Could this be the problem??? I have a yellow tang but he doesnt seem to eat the algae at all.

If you took everything out of the tank to move it, chances are you disrupted your nitrate cycle in the LR. As well as the DSB, if you have one. Give it 2 to 3 months and it should start working at full capacity again. Don't let your nitrate reading fool you. It's low because the algae is now taking up the slack.

I agee with the nitrate problem.
I would still recommend the sailfin but your tank is definitely too small for two tangs.

From reading in past posts I have read CC could be the reason for my Hair algae problem, also I am getting Little white/clear looking worms over the algae, is this normal? SHould I post a pic? Also I got some sugar sized Aragonite (oolitic) sand?? I have heard it was too fine. Is this true? Can this be layered above or below bigger grained sand? I guess this would even create a bigger sand storm when adding to an established aquarium. I was going to do this with a 4 foot 2"PVC pipe and pour it in thru there. Let me have \your thoughts. Oh by the way ALL the fish stores in this area have my dreaded hair algae!!!! UGHH!!! Could there be something my reverse osmosis filter CANT get out??

Mrrrkva, this is my guess. Your CC held alot of nutrients that had not been fully released until you disturbed it, this nutrient release fuled the hair algae and (I believe) the aptasia and what appears to me to be flat worms. Don't place the sand over the CC. There are many threads on this board and others about changing CC over to a deep sand bed.
If this were my tank I would probably be thinking seriously about tearing it down and starting over. The reason I say this is from your pictures it appears that you have some very difficult problems to rectify in an established tank, flat worms and aptasia, in the numbers that you have, are very difficult to eradicate. You also have CC which you will probably want to change to a DSB.

At this point I am willing to start over. BUt what do I do with the established Xenia and mushrooms and everything that is worth saving??? Aiptasia is TERRIBLE in this tank!!! Should I keep the rock with LOTS of corraline and scrub off the hair?? Will this go into my new setup?? Is the sugar sized aragonite too small? I have some Oolitic. Where does this go in the DSB??

Ok guys no replies, I am starting over, but WHAT do I do with the mushrooms, xenia, polyps that are thriving and doing well? What about the fish? If these are flatworms dont want to put them in my Propagation tank. Please HELP!

Give them about a 10 second fresh water dip while shacking them vigorously. That will dislodge and kill the flatworms.
