The general thought has been you must chose clams or starfish but not both.
I have a Maroon brittlestar who from tip to tip is @ 8" a Orange brittlestar who is @ 5" neither have evr bothered my non photosynthesis clams two of which are @ 3". Given these stars history do Ya'll think they will maintain this truce with clams if I purchase a a Blue Clam?

I have never heard of a brittle bothering a tridacnid clam. I have kept them together without any problems. That's my experience.

Brittle stars are not the type of stars that will eat clams. If they tried to pull apart a clam shell (have you ever tried to do this? it's not easy) their legs would probably break off. Starfish, like many other animals, will eat different things from one species to the next. If you're worried about your clams, stay away from starfish that specifically concentrate on mollusks as food, or stars like chocolate chips that eat anything and everything they can get their suction cups on.
